Yellow Wood ~ A Song

The concert crowd pleaser, “Yellow Wood,” is this month’s featured song. In this tune, I play off of the famous Robert Frost poem, “The Road Not Taken,” and add to that a pun for good measure. The choice before the subject is about how to process a relationship that has been misleading and confusing. The realization is that the road of disappointment need not be inevitable. At any point, one can return to the decision spot to regroup, reboot, stand tall, and choose instead the road which beckons a deeper authenticity; the road less traveled. It’s worth it for, as Mr. Frost indicated, such a choice can make all the difference. You can listen to “Yellow Wood” on my website. It is the ninth track on the “Calling Deep” album: http://www.tammywinn.com/music/a/calling_deep  May you be inspired!

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

And there you stood before my eyes

I trusted you as you took my hand

But your promised land was in disguise

Woah oh, yellow wood

Four steps down your push-pull path

I headed back to the base

It’s not up to me to rule you out

But I’m all about saving face

Oh woah oh, yellow wood

Yellow wood; I won’t

Honey, you know I want to walk with you

But I’ve been there before

Yellow wood; I can’t

Baby, I’m gonna have to pass

Hold out for a love that lasts

As I should

Yellow wood

I tried to reconcile the past

It didn’t last; I’m back to blue

I’m gonna try and let it go

What I know about you

Woah oh, yellow wood

You seem to fail to recognize

All the lies your actions said

It’s hard for me to clearly see

That part of me could be misled

Oh woah oh, yellow wood

Yellow wood; I won’t

Honey, you know I want to walk with you

But I’ve been there before

Yellow wood; I can’t

Baby, I’m gonna have to pass

Hold out for a love that lasts

As I should

Yellow wood

I am the road less traveled by

In time you will see

The fulfillment that you jeopardized

By your hypocrisy……………….

Yellow wood; I won’t

Honey, you know I want to walk with you

But I’ve been there before

Yellow wood; I can’t

Baby, I’m gonna have to pass

Hold out for a love that lasts

As I should

Yellow wood
